Starry glow, the Longest night

blankets the Earth in sweet sleep.

The Solstice Blessings, bright

burrowing in our hearts, so deep

Now keep us ever healthy

happy, grateful -and wise.

Humble, nourished, wealthy

enjoying wonder and surprise.

Thanks and glorified praise

to the divine seasons passed,

all those fleeting nights and days

that simply could not last…

Now welcome the Sun’s return

within glowing candlelight

fragrant Yule logs burn

piercing darkness… a joyful sight.

The holiday season can make you feel stuffed and full, and hollow and empty… both at the same time.

When you take stock of the time you’re shopping, wrapping, cooking, preparing, organizing, listing…Showing up for events, gatherings and end-of-year meetings on top of that…it can be exhausting.

You can create a sense of calm and contentment by creating an element of cozy in your environment. You can use texture and softer lighting, like candlelight. You can have sentimental objects prominently displayed to evoke pleasant memory and feeling.

I don’t consider myself a winter person. However, I absolutely love the fire in my wood burning stove. Poking the embers, reviving the fire…Throwing another log on, and watching it be consumed slowly, flickering.

Mesmerizing, and so very peaceful for me.
