Hello, Sacred Sisterhood!
My name is Brigid (Nicknamed “Beauty” by my belly dancing teacher Jessamina in 2010.) I want to share with you that this year I officially became a Crone, and I want to invite all Maidens, Mothers, and Crones to dance with me ‘neath this upcoming Full Moon.
You might be asking yourself, “What is a Crone?” Sadly, the meaning of the word, over time, has been grossly changed to a derogatory image of an old hag of a woman. (Perhaps patriarchies, who shall remain nameless, had an invested interest in discrediting and devaluing women.) However, in the paradigm of The Goddess, the three aspects of life, namely Maiden, Mother, and Crone, were celebrated! Our ancient people walked closely with the Earth. They embraced that life moved forward. Life had a beginning, middle, and end. Yet, they believed that the end turned to a new beginning, thus life was continuous and cyclical.
After moving through Maidenhood and journeying through Motherhood, a woman arrives at her time as a Crone. A Crone is a woman of wisdom, one who has taken the gifts she has gleaned from her time as a Maiden and Mother, integrated them, and is equipped and ready to share, lead and to mentor. Some consider that a woman becomes a Crone when she no longer bleeds. (Menopause.) However, many are determining their time as a Crone using different hallmarks. As one who now no longer menstruates, I consider myself an Official Crone. One of the greatest things I have experienced is that I had the opportunity to release a lot of baggage I carried through my Maiden and Mother years. Crones don’t need to be carryin’ extra stuff. The call to “lighten up,” is giving this “Baby Crone” the energy to move and dance full steam ahead!
So, this Glorious Crone is calling all Maidens, Mothers, and Crones- and the men and children who love them- to dance with me ‘neath the Full Moon. Today is 11/11, a very sacred day because in numerology the number eleven is highly energetic. Numerology recognizes that numbers, like all things, have energy. Eleven is a Master number; it contains a highly intuitive and spiritual energy. Whenever a number is repeated, such as 11/11, it amplifies the energy. So it is at this highly energized time, 11/11, as we are on the cusp of the Extreme Super Full Moon, that I invite you to join me in dancing ‘neath the Full Moon.
I have been dancing all week under the moon. Each night I have been watching her swell as she cycles toward fullness. We are all called, by virtue of our existence, to move and swell toward our fullest potential.
This next full moon, 11/14th, is called The Extreme Super Full Moon because the Moon will orbit more closely to the Earth than it has in a long time. (Or will again for some time.) Let’s follow our Sister Moon’s example…Let’s let our full light shine brightly! Let’s release the junk from the past that dulls and eclipses our light! Let’s dream and dance together as we focus on creating the lives that we want.
This is indeed such a sacred time. On 11/11, as we move toward the Extreme Super Full Moon of 11/14th, we will be journeying toward the Super Full Moon of Dec.14th, and the 12/21 Feast of the Winter Solstice. (The day that has the least amount of daylight.) A day that may seem dark with death all around, but yet calls all glorious ones to go within and harness the energy that allows growth to occur internally.)
This is such an incredible time energetically to release, allow your bright light to shine, and to dream so as to allow those dreams to incubate through the Winter tide. The dream that I am dreaming is having my own dance studio called “Brave Soul Dance Studio- for those who want to dance out of the box!” It will be a dance studio where people of all sizes, shapes, and abilities can express themselves through the joy of dance. I dream of people who are differently-abled, perhaps even in wheelchairs, coming and celebrating and embodying joy of dance. I envision people who are grieving using dance as a mode to move through their grief. (Based on my own experience of being the mother of two babies who died during my pregnancies, also called perinatal loss.) I’ll be bringing all of this to The Extreme Super Full and all the other days that follow as I dance and release and dance and dream! But,most of all Sweet Sisters, you’ll be in my heart and I’ll be sending you my love as I dance ‘neath the moon. What do you dream of? Now is the time to shine!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love always,
Brigid/Beauty….the Glorious Crone
