
Halfway through spring!
The bleeding hearts bloom precisely on the anniversary of my Grandmother’s death.
On her funeral day, I wandered into her backyard, looking for a moment of solace, and saw her bleeding heart plant. It made me smile, and chuckle a little at the apropos-ness of the symbol.
A poetic uplift in a devastatingly sad time.
Now I’m out at dawn walking around my mountain property looking for my bee friends, feyfolk and some new flowers. Knowing full well, the renewal-of-life Beltane season and MY bleeding hearts are blossoming.
The lily of the valley blooms calling my eyes downward next. Demanding joyfully I create a few minutes for their supremely scented glory.

I squat down low and get face-to-face with the tiny fairy flowers. Sun glistens off them majestically. I close my eyes for a few breaths. Very powerful springtime magic.
But simple.
When you consciously take the time to breathe in a pleasant flower, you not only get the sensory sensual benefits of those cute little odorant molecules…but also the physiological practice of breathing deep into the lower lungs, improves vagal tone, and provides calming effects through your Vagus nerve.
It’s stress relief!
Blessings from the Earth are everywhere when you make yourself available to them.
I let myself swoon a bit, which is fine with me, I like that feeling of euphoria and connection to divine frequency through scent.

Each year I pluck one tiny frond of new flowers and and tuck it behind my ear.. crowned myself the May Queen (or King). You could too.
